SCORE StartSMART™ Workshop Series

QuickBooks Basics

Funding Your Business

Description: This seminar provides insight into various ways to fund your small business from internal and/or external sources. It explains how to tap into internal sources of funds in your own balance sheet by optimizing cash flow through the management of receivables, payables, and inventory or monetizing assets for cash or to finance accounts payable. External funding sources discussed will include debt, such as borrowing from family, friends, banks or other lenders, and sources such as grants or equity.

Seminar Leader: David Plucinsky has 35 years of domestic and international business experience. Prior to 2008, he lived and worked in London for 20 years, spending 12 years as a self-employed consultant. During that time, Dave worked primarily with start-up companies and turn-around situations. In some cases, he was an investor and/or represented investment groups, and in others, he acted in a consultancy role. Dave has worked with companies operating in the U.S., EU, Far East, and Australia.

Small Business Tax Issues

Description: This seminar will concentrate on specific tax issues affecting the small to medium sized business community. The topics will include required state and tax filings and other reporting requirements. The seminar will also include suggestions for improving financial operations.

Seminar Leader: Leonard Steinberg is the Principal of Steinberg Enterprises, LLC and a Certified Management Consultant (CMC). Mr. Steinberg is a specialist in small business and nonprofit organizations.  As a small business advocate, he testified before the House of Representatives Committees on Small business and the Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs. He also served on the Federal Taxpayer Advocacy Panel, working on behalf of individuals and businesses. His consulting practice concentrates in the areas of Accounting, Tax, Financial and Administrative Operations, and Board Development.
